Who We Are

The company was founded in 1947 on the age old concept of ‘solving a problem’. George Dickinson tried to find a Jeep-mounted auger drill to drill the crop line of coal on his property on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee.  Today’s MDI offers newly designed drills, expanded inventory on parts and tooling, and new ways of doing business.

Assembly Technician

Mobile Drill Intl manufactures a full line of drill rigs and tooling servicing the Geo-technical, Environmental, Mineral Exploration, Water Well and Seismic industries. MDI manufactures both mechanical and hydraulic driven drills along with an extensive inventory of sampling tooling – with shipments going out globally each day. Due to business growth, we have vacancies for assembly technicians to join our team at our facility in Indianapolis.

Job Expectations

  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
    Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
    Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Job Requirements

  • Capability to assemble drills, and sub-assemblies of drills encompassing tasks that include welding, assembling hydraulic components, electrical components and basic mechanical fastening.
  • Participate in an individual drill build team in addition to participating in the MDI shop team.
  • Technicians will provide standard hand and power tools.  Specialty tools will be provided.
  • Self-starter that can produce consistent results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • At all times, maintaining a positive “Customer First” attitude and contributing to the team.

Welder

Due to business growth, we have vacancies for production Shipping and Receiving Clerks to join our team at our facility in Indianapolis.

Job Expectations

  • Responsible for reading and interpreting prints to complete manufacturing orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Responsible for working within the department to complete first piece inspections on all Manufacturing orders.
  • Lift and move heavy items/packages as required.
  • Minor Material handling for piece parts and completed parts with regards to the auger production.
  • Maintaining the MDI quality standards for auger building.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months experience in MIG welding.
  • Self-starter that can produce consistent results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads and multi-task.
  • At all times, maintaining a positive “Customer First” attitude and contributing to the team.
